North East Sensory Services (NESS) is the leading local provider of services for people who are Deaf, blind or have significant hearing or visual loss.
For our Joint Sensory Service in Aberdeen we are seeking to recruit a Social Worker based in our Aberdeen Office.
You will have a relevant social work qualification and are an enthusiastic and well organised individual. You will have an understanding of the needs of people with a sensory loss or are keen to learn, including learning British Sign Language.
Key features of the role
To support clients to overcome the practical and emotional effects of sensory impairment by:
- assessing people with sensory loss who have been referred to NESS
- working to meet needs identified and to refer on as required
- providing a domiciliary social work service for a specified case load – offering practical and emotional support, dealing with some rehabilitation activities and referring on as required
- providing information and advice on sensory impairment to clients, carers, relatives and other individuals or agencies involved with the service user
