About Open Sight Hampshire
Open Sight Hampshire (Hampshire Association for the Care of the Blind) is a small independent charity that is making a difference to the lives of thousands of visually impaired people in Hampshire every year. Having celebrated our 100 years in 2022 we are moving forward into our next 100 with the mission of supporting more people to live their life whilst managing their visual impairment.
Delivered across Hampshire to over 3500 people, our services have impact across many aspects of the lives of the visually impaired. From making better use of residual sight, through emotional and physical wellbeing to financial security and independence, and we measure our services across all these aspects. To date, during 2023-24, 82% of people accessing our key services have reported improved well-being, and 65% have felt better able to continue to live a full and independent life.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Head of Income Generation and Communications is responsible for developing and implementing the:
- Income generation strategy for OSH – ensuring we have the funds needed to undertake our work, that we continue to build a sustainable funding model that balances a range of funding streams and that donors feel engaged and part of the story of OSH.
- Communications and media strategy of the charity – ensuring that our communications to supporters, partners and within the media is excellent and on brand.
- Developing, implementing, and managing a fundraising team of staff and volunteers
PERSON SPECIFICATION
OSH is looking for someone with the skills, experience and track record who can take the strategic lead for all aspects of OSH’s Income generation and communications. Ensuring that people with a visual impairment have the support they need to live their life. The successful applicant will have at the heart of their role the desire to enable people who need that extra support to do amazing. They will be able to subscribe OSH’s values and demonstrate them in their behaviours. They will be very organised, practical, proactive whilst managing a varied and busy workload. They will be very approachable and enjoy working as part of a diverse team and supporting others. The role will require the successful candidate to complete a basic DBS check.
