To provide finance support and administration to the organisation, enabling the smooth running of ‘back office’ support by:

  1. Providing day-to-day computerised financial accounting services to SSD with responsibility for key functions to include recording and processing invoices, BACS and cheque payments, processing expense claims and maintaining accurate monthly ledger balances.
  2. Supporting and processing stock ordering for key operational services.
  3. Ensuring good practice financial housekeeping and adequate security for funds and data.
  4. Assist and support staff and volunteers in financial areas when required.
  5. Actively promoting the wider work of SSD, assisting in the development of all its services and attending relevant events.

KEY TASKS:

To provide accurate all-round financial accounting services by being responsible for the following on a day-to-day basis:

    • To maintain, monitor and report on Purchase Ledger activity.
    • To maintain, monitor and report on Sales Ledger activity.
    • To monitor and process company expenses in a timely fashion.
    • To produce invoices for Contracts and Service Level agreements and to monitor this funding frequency.
    • To update and reconcile current, savings and investment bank accounts monthly.
    • To update and reconcile the Petty cash account monthly
    • To report any issues or concerns with day-to-day finances to the Finance Manager.

Essential

  • Fully experienced in Sage Line 50 (preferable) or other equivalent computerised  accounting
  • Double entry bookkeeping
  • Knowledge of financial document recording
  • Personal organisation/time management
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Able to work to financial deadlines
  • Exercise discretion and confidentiality
  • Good personal presentation skills
  • Good oral/written communication skills
