VICTA is a national charity empowering children and young adults who are blind or partially sighted. We seek someone who is passionate about supporting people to live life to the full as part of a dynamic, forward thinking team.

As the Activities & Strategic Programmes Manager you will be instrumental in devising, building and delivering an activities programme that supports our objectives. Our activities and programmes run from 0 to 29 years and engage and challenge the young people we support. In addition to developing the programme you will also be part of the team delivering. Due to the nature of the role this involves out of hours working which will include weekends and travel across the UK and overseas, and you will require a clean full driving licence. The right candidate will enter these unique opportunities with enthusiasm. This year as part of our developed calendar our team are:

  • Supporting a group of UK students at an international camp in Rome
  • Creating friendships at a theme part day at Alton Towers for 14 to 17s
  • Climbing up at the O2 in London
  • Abseiling, raft building, zip wiring and more at our annual Family Weekend for over 200 people
  • Attending a snow sports adventure in Scotland
  • Supporting 18 to 19s as they challenge perceptions at our annual photography course in London
  • Supporting our Young Achievers at our nature, science, community and arts days
  • Cheering on #TeamVICTA fundraisers at the London Marathon grandstand

To be successful in this role, you will need experience of working with a range of different stakeholders including people who have a disability, volunteers, suppliers, professionals and other third sector organisations. As someone who can think independently, finds it easy to build relationships with others and is calm in a crisis, you will have a passion for making a difference and are happy to get your hands dirty.

We provide a positive work culture where learning and development is actively supported and promoted. While we seek someone who can think independently the ability to work within a team environment is paramount. The ideal candidate will be patient, flexible, have a good sense of humour and happy to lead from the front.

We offer:

  • Critical illness cover
  • Time in lieu for days worked over weekends
  • Overnight working supplement
  • An additional day off for your birthday
