Southend in Sight is the Community Services Division of Southend Blind Welfare Organisation – a local charity supporting people living with sight loss.

Following a successful grant award from RNIB, we are pleased to announce this exciting opportunity to join Southend Hospital’s Eye Clinic as their Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) to support patients in need.

You will be working in the Eye Clinic offering a person centred support service to blind and partially sighted people, family members and carers at the point of diagnosis. Each day you will be providing emotional support and raising awareness of services that empower visually impaired people to make informed choices to maintain and develop their independence.

 

Who are we looking for?

As the successful candidate, you will ideally have a qualification in rehabilitation studies, nursing, occupational therapy, optometry or significant health and social care qualification or experience of delivering support services at a similar level (training will be provided). You will be able to demonstrate good knowledge of social care and health services and functions of professionals within the eye health field.

You will also have good communication and organisation skills, together with being a proficient user of databases and Microsoft Office packages.
