Victory as rail ticket office closure proposals scrapped
Visionary welcomes the government’s withdrawal of its proposal to close rail ticket offices after overwhelming opposition to the consultation.
There were over 750,000 responses to the public consultation to close rail ticket offices with 99% of responses objecting against the proposals. Transport Focus said the responses
“contained powerful and passionate concerns about the potential changes”.
You can read the Travel watchdog reports to the consultation below:

We worked with charities in the sight loss sector and outside the sector to campaign against the consultation which would have had a significant impact on the freedom and ability to travel for people who are blind and partially sighted. Although the government’s u-turn on the proposals is is good news, more needs to be done to make transport truly accessible.
