VI Charity Sector Partnership workstreams
Eight of the leading charities in the sight loss sector formed the VI Charity Sector Partnership in October 2020. The aim of this partnership is to provide strategic overview for the planning and implementation of collaborative initiatives in the charity sector that will lead to improving the lives of blind and partially sighted people and those at risk of sight loss across the UK. The founding partners are:
- Blind Veterans UK
- Glaucoma UK
- Guide Dogs
- Macular Society
- Retina UK
- RNIB
- Thomas Pocklington Trust
- Visionary.
Partners have agreed to focus on seven workstreams for 2021-2022 as follows:
- Crisis response plan
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Talent development and lived experience leadership
- Establishment of a sector-wide Insight base
- Sector Information Sharing Kickstarter
- Access to technology
- Joint awareness raising and campaigning
Each work stream has an identified CEO sponsor and comprises of an operational lead and working group with partner representatives. As this is still a new initiative, the partners have agreed that formal membership will not be opened up more widely at this stage while progress on the initial workstreams and consolidation of the partnership is established. If interested parties from within the sight loss sector and beyond feel that they have something to contribute to the specific workstreams (and are willing to do so), or are interested in finding out more, they are invited to get in touch.
