Sight Scotland and Sight Scotland Veterans Fair Rail Campaign
Sight Scotland and Sight Scotland Veterans Fair Rail campaign calls for free companion rail travel across Scotland for those with a National (Scotland) Concessionary Travel for Blind Persons card.
This commonly known as the Eye +1 National Entitlement Card (NEC).
After two years of campaigning and thanks the support of our dedicated activists, a pilot project to extend free rail travel for companions of Blind Persons Concessionary Travel cardholders was agreed in the Scottish Government’s Fair Fares Review – Transport Scotland in March 2024.
The pilot project is a huge win and we’re closer than ever to achieving equitable rail travel. We’re now working with Transport Scotland and Scotrail to launch a pre-pilot survey and focus groups before the pilot goes live in Spring 2025.
Do you live in Scotland or know someone who has the Eye +1 NEC and wants to share their views via the survey or take part in one of our focus groups in February? Get in touch at emailing the Policy team at Sight Scotland or call 0131 229 1456.
