RNIB launches Eyeware simulation tool to help people understand sight loss better
RNIB partners and supporters, including members of the People’s Postcode Lottery team, met to launch Eyeware – a new sight loss simulation technology – in their central London office last month.
Eyeware is an immersive tool that allows sighted people the chance to experience simulations of different sight loss conditions in real-time. It’s a free-to-use app that uses innovative AR (Augmented Reality) software, in combination with a simple cardboard headset to recreate one of 11 different eye conditions.
Jim Sanders, Director of Innovation and Transformation“Eyeware will raise awareness of sight loss – a big part of our mission as the leading sight loss charity in the UK – and have applications across healthcare and education sectors, accessible services and product development. Eyeware can be the key to breaking down the barriers that affect people with sight loss every day."
