NHS Digital statistics published on registered blind and partially sighted people in England, 2019 to 2020
Data is always essential for planning services and applying for grants.
NHS Digital have produced a publication containing aggregated information on adults and children registered as being blind or partially sighted with Local Authorities in England. Data was submitted by 151 Local Authorities to provide insight into the number of registrations for the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020.
Some key facts from the data include the following:
- Approximately one in three on the register overall has an additional disability, broadly unchanged since the last collection.
- There were 20,945 new registrations in 2019-20, or 57 new registrations per day.
