Beccy Iddon joins Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind & Vision Impaired as Executive Manager
We’re delighted to welcome Beccy Iddon to the Visionary network who has recently joined Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind & Vision Impaired as Executive Manager.
Beccy Iddon"I have recently started as the Executive Manager at Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind & Vision Impaired, an independent registered charity dedicated to supporting Huntingdonshire residents of all ages who are experiencing sight loss.
Despite only having been here for a short time, I can see that the Society is an extremely positive place to be, with everyone passionate about what they do. Our team of staff and volunteers are committed to providing members with support and advice enabling them to maximise independent living, regain their confidence and improve their quality of life.
I have had a varied career so far, working in senior leadership positions in retail, hospitality and training organisations. Most recently I have been self-employed, supporting businesses and individuals to challenge the norm and explore new opportunities, especially around communication, direction and wellbeing. I have trained in counselling and volunteer once a week for the Samaritans, which is challenging as well as being hugely rewarding.
I love spending time with my three-year-old grandson, as well as having the whole family round for dinner and games, whenever possible. We have recently moved into a lovely old cottage locally, so renovating this is an ongoing process.
I have started at an exciting time for the organisation, which celebrated turning 100 years old last year. With Christmas fast approaching I am getting involved in the Christmas parties, fundraising activities and promotion of the extensive programme of events for our members next year. I am looking forward to attending the Visionary London, South East and East regional meeting this month and finding out more about the organisation."
