Infosound is a registered charity and professional producer of free and impartial news and information, in audio, for blind and partially-sighted people in Great Britain.

There are now over two thousand listening activities every day to the audio features Infosound broadcasts and distributes in several different ways, including over the phone, online and on specialist audio players for vision-impaired people. Infosound also freely shares much of the material it produces with local talking newspapers and magazines, radio services and other information-providers.

Infosound always produces its own original audio features and these can be on any subject that might be of interest to someone, of whatever age or circumstances, who lives with sight loss; so, for example, daily-living aids and products, benefits, holidays, mobility, travel, housing, employment, training, leisure, sport, money, consumer matters, hobbies, the important issues of the moment as well as events and one-off services run for the benefit of blind and partially-sighted people.

Importantly, Infosound produces audio briefings on what local sight loss charities are doing – or, rather, they try to; but unless they are told about an event or a service that is being run in a local area, they can only use the Internet to find out what Visionary members are up to. And with new listeners hearing Infosound all the time, they don’t just want to be told about something “new” that you are doing; they want to hear about everything. They produce hundreds of audio items every year, so you cannot over-supply them with information!

Please write the details – in note form – and email it to

They are not asking you to write their script for them, but they do need all the details: in other words, who a service you provide or an event you are running is intended to benefit, the venue, the date and time, any costs involved and other important details like whether there is sighted help available (if applicable) and, most important of all, a phone number and email address where listeners can get further details.

Infosound also has a Charity Support page, where they share their audio material and offer promotional audio and text downloads giving more information about the free and impartial Infosound service. And this can be found at
