Gareth Brydon, Head of External Services

What’s your professional background?

I’m a Rehabilitation Officer by trade and am also a qualified teacher and have worked in various roles within the sight loss sector since 2000. Since 2008 I’ve held a variety of regional and national posts with RNIB and Action for Blind People in the areas of service development and strategic partnerships before joining Visionary in January 2018.

What do you do (at Visionary)?

I’m proud to be Head of External Services  to ensure we support the development of the services our members deliver. More directly I work with our CEO  to develop and manage relationships with our national members.

What do you like most about working for Visionary?

The connection to local sight loss charities and the amazing work they do with and for blind & partially sighted people across the country.

Why work in the VI sector?

I have lifelong lived experience of sight loss and feel passionately about doing something positive and heartfelt to put something back into the community of which I am a part.

If you could be anywhere on Friday afternoon where would it be?

Somewhere on the top of the Malvern Hills or in the Herefordshire countryside walking and talking with my beautiful wife Joanna and our boys Jacob and Jonas.
