Trustees Forum 2025-2026
Wednesday 6 August 2025
5:00 pm to 6:00pm
Zoom
These bi-monthly sessions (first Wednesday of every other month) are open to trustees of organisations who are part of the Visionary network. The sessions will have a mix of expert guest speakers and peer support discussions (see below for more information).
Come along and meet with other trustees to have a conversation about all things related to governance. Each meeting has a theme set in advance, for the first part of the session and an open conversation for the second part.
The style of the sessions encourage trustees to share their experiences and reflect upon the issues discussed. So, regardless of whether you feel your charity has it sorted or not, your involvement will be very welcome in supporting other trustees of local sight loss charities.
- 4 June 2025 – Join us in June to hear about Mark Uptons experience of being CEO of MyVision Oxfordshire and Chair of Visionary. Find out what Mark learns from both roles and how one influences the other.
- 6 August 2025 – Our session on August 6 will focus on ensuring that your governance practice is fit for purpose and will be led by Alison Oliver. Alison has worked in the sight loss sector for over 10 years and is now a freelance consultant in the sector, specialising in governance, organisational development and strategy work. Good governance is fundamental to a charity’s success. It enables and supports a charity’s compliance with the law and relevant regulations, and making sure it’s fit for purpose. The session will focus on a practical discussion about governance in small/medium sized charities looking at the requirements of the Charity Commission (and OSCR in Scotland) and how to apply these in practice.
- 1 October 2025 – Amrat Khorana is the Chair at Support 4 Sight in Essex. Join us on 1 October to hear about the critical role of performance development and appraisals for both trustees and CEOs. Drawing on his experience as both a trustee and a CEO in a community-focused organisation, Amrat will share his perspective on best practices, challenges, and strategies to ensure effective governance, accountability, and leadership growth.
- 3 December 2025 – Join fellow trustees for peer support and a chance to reflect on 2025 – bring along any issues which are relevant for you!
