Travel Matters – Research findings and toolkit launch

Visionary invites you to join us on Thursday March 28 at 2pm as we share the outcomes from our Travel Matters project.

Travel Matters was a one-year project, funded by Motability, which enabled Visionary to collaborate with research organisation, Revealing Reality, to explore how access to travel can impact the lives of blind and partially sighted people.

Working with Visionary members, North East Sight Matters, Vision Support, Beacon Centre for the Blind and Sight Concern Bedfordshire, Revealing Reality were able to interview blind and partially sighted people about their travel experiences, what travel means to them and how access to travel impacts on their daily lives.  As part of the research, Revealing Reality also interviewed stakeholders to find out their views on accessible transport.

During the launch event Revealing Reality will outline the findings of the research, members will share their reflections of the findings and experiences of being involved in the project.   We will also launch the toolkit which has been developed in response to the findings.  The toolkit includes sharable case studies and a film which can be used to influence change in your local community and incorporated into visual awareness training and confidence building sessions.

This is a great opportunity to hear from the local people on their experiences and how you can work with your local stakeholders to help to improve accessible travel for blind and partially sighted people in your local areas.  There will be opportunity to ask questions and discuss how the toolkit can be used.  The full tool kit will be available in the Knowledge Hub after the launch.
