The purpose of this portal is to facilitate the exchanging of furloughed staff who are unable (due to the furloughing rules) to volunteer for their own organisations but are willing to volunteer for other sight loss organisations.
How it works
The portal operates by enabling sight loss charities to register their volunteering requirements/opportunities. These volunteering vacancies are then advertised on the portal, with furloughed staff encouraged to review the opportunities and contact the organisations direct to discuss.
Visionary will also underpin this activity by supporting organisations to develop volunteer management capacity.

Other details | Kirklees Visual Impairment Network (KVIN) is a sight loss charity based in Kirklees in West Yorkshire. We support local people who have sight loss to live independently through running peer support sessions in 3 locations each week.
A main focus is to promote the use of technology to help people maintain their independence such as learning to use voice over or text to speech software. We are now unable to run our face to face groups but have replaced them with group chats on Zoom and individual support through phone calls. This is being run by our small staff team and volunteer team. |
