I was CEO of Visibility (a local sight loss charity in the west of Scotland covering 13 local authority areas and 4 health boards) for almost 20 years. Before joining Visibility, I was the Scottish Director of Breast Cancer Care and prior to that I worked in social action broadcasting. I am also a member of the Scottish Parliaments cross party group on visual impairment and I am currently a trustee of two grant giving trusts, The Corra Foundation (previously Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland) and The Blindcraft Trust. I have been a trustee and elected president of Scottish Council on Visual Impairment and a trustee of ACOSVO (the Association of Chief Executive Officers for Scotland).
The diversity – not two days are the same. I love the concept of Visionary- working collectively to make the sight loss sector better for the people who need us.
I really enjoy it – the sight loss sector is interesting, innovative and creative. I like the history of the local sight loss charities and I really like learning from the different organisations – there is so much that can be done to make life easier for blind and partially sighted people.
I would be walking near the sea with my favourite people and my lovely dog Ruby – heading towards a really nice dog friendly café bar!
