Visionary launches new series of Lived Experience Matters podcasts
Nina Chesworth speaks to exciting new guests about their lived experience of being blind or partially sighted and to organisation leads about the importance of making lived experience matter.
The new series of Visionary podcasts follows on from last year’s podcasts, where Chris Wilsdon, Services Manager (Health and Wellbeing) at Kent Association for the Blind and Nina Chesworth, Lived Experience and Campaigns Co-ordinator at Visionary who are both blind and partially sighted spoke to five special guests, each with lived experience of vision impairment.
The podcasts are produced as part of the ‘Making Lived Experience Matter’ project funded by Fight for Sight which highlighted the importance and value of lived experience in organisations, at leadership level. In series two of the Visionary podcasts, we keep the focus on lived experience and how that looks for organisations as well as for individuals. We broadened our conversations, inviting organisations nationally to take part as well as those outside the sight loss sector to discuss their lived experience, thoughts and experiences. We hope the podcasts will open up conversations across the sector and inspire organisations to look at their lived experience representation.
Nina Chesworth, Visionary“This second series was bigger and really gave us the opportunity to delve a little deeper with organisations into their thoughts with lived experience representation. It was such a pleasure speaking with each person, it is great to see the conversation moving forward and finding ground.”
