Job Role & Purpose:  

 Sight Support HEY receives no government funding and relies on donations and proactive fundraising to continue its work support thousands of blind and partially sighted children and adults across Hull and East Yorkshire.

Our Community Fundraiser is registered blind. This role will provide the Community Fundraiser with work-related support in key areas where he would benefit from sighted assistance.

These include:

  • Driving the Community Fundraiser and volunteers to and from events
  • Providing visual feedback for risk assessments such as venue layout and lighting, potential trip hazards and checking volunteers are dressed appropriately for the activity.
  • Assist the Community Fundraiser with the setting up and manning of stalls at events.
  • Driving the Community Fundraiser from the Sight Support office to job-related appointments.
  • Driving and assisting the Community Fundraiser with the placement and collection of shop boxes across the region.
  • Taking relevant photographs and videos, in order for the Community Fundraiser to promote ongoing activities on social media.
  • Helping to pack away and locate stray equipment after events.
  • Taking the initiative to observe and provide any other relevant visual feedback the Community Fundraiser might benefit from.
  • Providing the Community Fundraiser with support sourcing raffle prizes from local businesses
  • Providing the Community Fundraiser with support to distribute posters and leaflets around local venues
  • Assisting with administrational tasks such as processing hand-written/printed material, helping to proof-read and format documents/presentations and taking minutes of meetings where appropriate
