Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 per annum (Full Time Equivalent)

 28 hours per week, mileage to be paid at 45p per mile

We are Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey – a charity that empowers and enables people who are blind or partially sighted, hard of hearing, Deaf, and those who have combined sight and hearing loss.  Our mission is to support people to overcome their day-to-day challenges, achieve their potential and lead an independent life.  Established in 1922, we are a countywide charity based in Fetcham, near Leatherhead.

The Children and Young People’s Service is a multi-disciplinary service that includes formal Habilitation training, a minimum of three recreational activities each month for families (0-18 yrs), young people (11-19 yrs) and young adults (18-25 yrs), Family Support, and Counselling.

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Habilitation Specialist who will supervise and support a team of Habilitation Specialists to co-ordinate all aspects of the provision of Habilitation (Mobility and Independent Living) training for Children and Young People who are vision impaired (VI) or have a multi-sensory impairment (MSI).

The post holder will also have responsibility for assessing and delivering mobility and other independent living skills of children on their own case list.  The children/young people will be aged 0-25 years and living within the county of Surrey or who attend a Local Authority Surrey school with a VI centre.

The post holder will need to have a Specialist Graduate Diploma in Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight (Children and Young People) or equivalent qualification which specifically meets all the learning outcomes arising from the ‘Quality Standards’ and have been qualified for a minimum of three years.
