A charity golf day will take place in Peterhead next month to raise vital funding for a north-east Scottish charity that supports thousands of people who are living with significant sensory loss.

North East Sensory Services (NESS) is holding the event with Nippon Gases UK and Ireland, part of Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation, as their Headline Eagle Sponsor. Support from the company will help NESS continue to provide the practical and emotional support their service users need.

The event takes place at Peterhead Golf Course on Friday, September 13. The charity is looking for teams of four to sign up for the 18-hole challenge around the dunes. There will be breakfasts of bacon or egg rolls with tea and coffee, before the event tees off at 12.30pm. There will be an evening buffet dinner at the end of the day, along with prizes and a raffle.

Registration costs £400 for a team of four, and money raised by the event will go towards the services that NESS provides, including social groups and activities to tackle loneliness and social isolation. These complement the charity’s statutory services and help people face and overcome challenges associated with sight or hearing loss.

NESS support thousands of blind and deaf people, and those with visual and hearing impairments, across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Dundee, Angus, and Moray. The charity’s main objective is to help people with sensory loss to live as independently as possible.

“We are delighted to confirm the date for our 2024 charity golf day on Friday, September 13. Peterhead Golf Club is a hidden gem, and the course, set among the dunes, is a classic example of Scottish seaside golf at its best – and the toughest. We are hugely grateful to Nippon Gases UK and Ireland as our headline Eagle sponsors for the event. As a charity, we rely on fundraising to enable a full range of activities for people with sight and/or hearing loss. The support from Nippon Gases UK and Ireland means we can do even more for the people we support and put on a really fantastic day of golf for everyone who takes part. Our programme of fundraising events secures crucial funds for us to provide our life-changing services, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supports us.”

“Supporting our communities is very important to us. NESS do incredible work to support people across the area with sensory loss to live their lives to the full, and we are delighted to play our part in supporting them. We are all looking forward to a wonderful day of golf at Peterhead and we hope to raise as much as possible for the charity.”
