Rehabilitation Officers for Visually Impaired People/Vision Rehabilitation Specialist
Closing date: Sunday 19 May 2024
Location: Derby
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £34,476 per annum
Contract: Temporary 2 years initially
Sight Support Derbyshire is looking to recruit a qualified Rehabilitation Officer to be part of our dedicated team supporting the delivery of high quality services for blind and partially sighted people in Derbyshire.
You will need to be a ‘self-starter’ and able to work on your own initiative to ensure that the services run smoothly and deliver the required outcomes. You will carry out holistic person-centred assessments of need and provide rehabilitation programmes for orientation and mobility, communication, and independent living skills for visually impaired people.
We are flexible about how many hours the post holder will do – it could full or part time. We can offer flexibility in work patterns. Initially offered on a two year temporary contract, this may continue, subject to funding. (Please telephone if you wish to discuss options before applying.)
It is essential that you are a qualified rehabilitation worker, holding one of the profession based qualifications available through national training establishments. You should be registered or willing to register with the Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network. Extensive travel is an essential part of the role, and as many areas in the county are hard to reach by public transport, it is likely that access to a vehicle will be needed (own car or Access to Work).
We can offer you a challenging and rewarding environment, a competitive salary and pension, and generous annual leave entitlement. You will be part of a friendly, helpful and supportive team who are all dedicated to improving the lives of visually impaired people.
