Wilberforce Trust wins York Design Award

The York Design Awards for 2023 were held on 3 July in the glittering magnificence of York Guild Hall, itself a winner in 2022.
The York Design Awards aim to encourage and promote excellence in design and conservation, striving for the highest standards which will delight present and future generations.

Wilberforce House was shortlisted for two awards and eventually won the award for Commercial or Community building (large) at the prestigious Awards. We beat off stiff competition from buildings such as York Minster Refectory and Independence House (a redevelopment of former Barratt Houses offices in Nether Poppleton) to be crowned the only winner in our category.
Judges comment about Wilberforce Trust's entry."The award in this category recognises a building of impressive quality in terms of its design and workmanship. The judges felt that its courtyard plan arrangement and its setting in the wider landscape were instrumental in creating a safe and uplifting environment for its occupants."
