North east Scottish sensory charity encourages fundraising sign ups

A north-east Scottish charity has encouraged supporters to take part in sponsored activities this summer to help raise vital funds for its life-changing services.
North East Sensory Services (NESS), which supports people who are blind, deaf, or who have sight and/or hearing loss, highlighted several events that people can sign up to as fundraisers.
In August, places are available for people to take part in the Ride the North cycling challenge for NESS. There are two routes, which both begin and end in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, covering distances of either 100 miles or 64 miles. The non-competitive event on Saturday, August 26, will bring together hundreds of riders as they travel through villages and backroads in the north east of Scotland.
NESS supporters can also sign up to join the Dundee or Edinburgh Kiltwalks on Sunday, August 20, and Sunday, September 17, with a range of distances available for adults and child participants.
And on Sunday, September 3, the annual Chapelton Bike Ride will return, with all proceeds going to NESS. There will be two cycle routes to choose from – 12 miles or 46 miles – which will take in the Aberdeenshire countryside, and individuals, teams and families are encouraged to take part. The Chapelton Bike Ride has raised over £40,000 since it was first launched in 2016. The route is managed by Stonehaven Cycling Club with the help of volunteers from the local community.
Funds raised at all the events will go towards the added value services that NESS provides, including its social groups and activities.
These services compliment the charity’s statutory services and help people face and overcome challenges associated with sight or hearing loss to allow them to live as independently as possible.
