One vision
Three local North East England sight loss charities (Sunderland and County Durham Royal Society for the Blind, Hartlepool Vision Support and Newcastle Vision Support) have come together to create a new partnership project called One Vision. The project is to be funded through the National Lottery through the National Lottery Community Fund and will run until 30 June 2025.
The Lottery has awarded £320,630 and the funds will go towards the appointments of a Safeguarding Officer, an IT Officer and towards the provision of specialist counselling for people with a visual impairment.
Counselling has become a major part of the work undertaken by local societies and has also contributed to the identification of the need to provide safeguarding support. All three charities already provide IT training and demand for this service is surging.
