Visionary and Thomas Pocklington Trust – Partnership Update

Visionary and TPT are committed to working together to create a better world for blind and partially sighted people. As members are aware, one of the ways we are doing this is by identifying areas where there are gaps in services and working with local Visionary members to work out the best way of filling those gaps in a way which is efficient, effective and for the benefit of blind and partially sighted people.

Working with TPT, Visionary wants to increase the reach and impact of local member organisations and help you create evidence based, local services that are consistent and sustainable. To take this forward, we held the first meeting of the Partnership Development Group on Friday 6 April in Preston. TPT are making funds available to roll out a programme of activity, with Visionary member organisations being the delivery vehicles for collaboration and partnership based services.

Phase 1 of the project will include the work already under way in London Vision, Vision West of England and Vision North East of England and this financial year the work will extend into five new areas:

  • Scotland Vision
  • West Midlands Vision
  • Greater Manchester Vision
  • Lancashire and Cumbria Vision

There will be ways for other parts of the UK to become involved in shaping and influencing this work which, in time will reach out to other parts of the UK. We are aware that there will be different ways of working for different areas, so, as the programme rolls out, we will be seeking advice and opinion as to what will work best in different parts of the UK. We are currently working on appointing Area Leads – so watch out on the Visionary members briefing for more information. In the meantime, Peter and Fiona recently recorded a podcast talking about how Visionary and TPT working together – listen here.
