Job Title: Community Fundraiser

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Location: Support 4 Sight is located in Saffron Walden

Salary: £26 – 28,500 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (or p/t subject to agreement)

Contract: Permanent

Annual leave allowance: 20 days per year

What is Support 4 Sight?

Support 4 Sight is a registered incorporated charity that helps visually impaired people who live in the Uttlesford, Harlow, Braintree, Epping, Chelmsford & surrounding areas. We help people to choose the right equipment to support them in their daily lives.  We also make home visits and give advice and support to people at eye clinics, along with supporting their families, friends to ensure they have the best quality of life that they can achieve. Our Head office is based in George Street in Saffron Walden.


Fundraiser Profile

  • Managing corporate supporters, our Fundraising Ambassador team and community fundraising.  The right candidate will have strong communication and organisational skills and you will be working well with our staff and volunteers
  • Gain a sound understanding of Support 4 Sight and its services and be willing to engage and motivate potential donors, local businesses and to generally raise our profile locally in order to support the charity
  • You will have a warm and personable character, be a confident speaker and enjoy meeting people from all backgrounds, as well as a passion for independent, local charities
  • A key part of the role is to motivate and inspire others to raise funds to enable our charity to continue to support newly diagnosed people who have been told they are going to become blind  



  • Design, promote and delivery community fund raising events
  • Maximise income to achieve agreed annual income targets
  • Help the charity to have a broad and well-diversified community fundraising portfolio
  • Build on current relationships with existing sponsors and supporters as well as managing our friends’ group and work with individual volunteers
  • Recruit and manage people in our Ambassador Teams to increase income levels from community fundraising locally
  • Identify new funding streams and opportunities for our services to raise the profile of Support 4 Sight
  • Support the development of the charity’s marketing and branding activities
  • Raise funds with businesses and companies through a range of activities including Charity of the Year schemes and sponsorships
  • Improve the charity’s online presence through using a range of social media
  • Manage and improve relationships with regular donors and expand the number of donors to the charity
  • Manage and update databases of donor contacts and communication preferences, in line with General Data Protection regulations
  • Ensure all data and information about Gift Aid donors is accurately recorded and that income is received by the charity
  • Make formal presentations to businesses, potential donors, patrons and social groups and societies to persuade them to support our charity
  • Keep up-to-date records of donations, grants and income, along with the relevant monitoring requirements
  • Develop an annual Impact Report, so that the benefits of the charity’s good work in the community is understand and can be used as a tool for further Fundraising
  • Work with income generating colleagues to share any relevant opportunities for donors
