Visionary Annual Conference 2017

We're pleased to now be able to provide further details about this year’s Visionary Annual Conference.

The event will be held at the Aston Conference Centre in Birmingham, on Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 November 2017.  There will also be an informal networking evening on Tuesday 31 October 2017.

The theme - Unlocking Potential, Creating Value – recognises that local sight loss charities make a significant difference to the lives of the people they support. There is huge potential amongst Visionary members, as well as in the wider sight loss sector, to make an even bigger impact but it is not always possible to realise this due to funding and time pressures.  Through the core Visionary team, our corporate partners and, most importantly, the collective Visionary network, we support local sight loss charities to deliver efficient and effective services of a consistently good quality that build upon the achievements already made in improving the lives of blind and partially sighted people.

Programme

Following feedback from last year’s event, we have revised the timings this year, allowing extra time for networking, workshops and the exhibition.  Full details, including speakers and workshop titles will be provided at the time of booking, but here is the provisional programme.

Workshops

Would you like to deliver a workshop at the conference?  If so, we would love to hear from you.  We’ve increased our workshop offering each year, and hope that this year we’ll have an even wider selection for delegates to enjoy, where you can learn from others and share ideas.

To submit a workshop proposal, please complete the Workshop Proposal Form by 5pm on Friday 21 July 2017.  The submissions will then be considered by the Visionary team.

Awards

The awards are open to full Visionary members (local sight loss charities) and you can nominate your own organisation, or another that you think deserves recognition.  We’ve also changed the format this year, giving members the chance to vote for the winner in each category, rather than have a judging panel make the final decision, so that we can share learning and outcomes from the shortlisted entries.

The winners will be announced at the awards dinner, and each winner will receive £500.

To submit an awards nomination, please complete the Awards Nomination Form by 5pm on Friday 18 August 2017.
