POST:         Community Worker
HOURS:  35 Hours (36-month contract renewed annually)
WEEKEND WORKING  There will be an expectation to work on some Saturdays
SALARY:        £15,828 - £18,276
CAR MILEAGE ALLOWANCE:  45p per mile
RESPONSIBLE TO:    WVS Manager, Senior Rehabilitation Officer

JOB PURPOSE:
To deliver and develop Advice Desk Support and My Sight Group activities for visually impaired people in Nuneaton and surrounding area
To be involved with the recruitment, training and management of Volunteers
To promote Warwickshire Vision Support services

SPECIFIC TASKS:
To staff the Advice Desk at George Eliot Eye Clinic giving advice and support to visually impaired patients and/or their carers
To facilitate weekly My Sight Groups in Nuneaton and the surrounding area to enable people living with sight loss to learn about local services and opportunities
To attend the weekly Nuneaton Vision Support Centre to receive new referrals from the Advice Desk
To refer people to WVS and other local services as appropriate
To maintain regular communications, support and liaison with all Warwickshire Vision Support’s Clubs and Visiting Services in the Nuneaton area
To be responsible for health and safety for Warwickshire Vision Support’s activities and undertaking Risk Assessments as required
To recruit and process applicants wishing to undertake Volunteering with Warwickshire Vision Support in the Nuneaton area
To make presentations and attend Networking Meetings as a representative of Warwickshire Vision Support

GENERAL:
To keep the Manager/SRO informed of any needs or issues that affect WVS’s Community Services, Vision Support Centres or Hospital Eye Clinic Services   
To develop and maintain good working relationships with Health and Social Care professionals/Agencies
To maintain all necessary records, statistics and provide reports as required by the Manager/SRO
To undertake training as required
To participate in supervision and performance reviews in accordance with WVS Policies and Procedures
To take part in regular team and staff meetings
To undertake all other reasonable duties as required
